Disabling One Drive During Windows 11 Setup
To start off, I have two devices, a Surface Laptop 4 and a custom built desktop. The desktop is running Windows 11 Pro while the Surface Laptop has Windows 11 Home. Obviously the Home edition of Windows forces the use of a Microsoft Account upon setup, which is fine since I have used a Microsoft account for years on my desktop. However, the Home edition of Windows does not allow you to "Store your Files Locally" like you could in Windows 10 or Windows 11 Pro. Essentially I don't want my library folders to end up in One Drive but I still want to use a Microsoft Account to login. Here's the solution: This solution requires a wired connection. Start the Windows 11 setup normally. Proceed with the setup until you get to the page that is titled "Let's Customize your Experience" as seen below: At this point you want to disconnect your internet connection, then proceed with setup.
